December 18.
When I first started working in the AIA Biulding on Hysan Avenue, there was a Pret a Mange on the ground floor, a Pacific Coffee and and HSBC on the mezzanine level, and then there were the offices. It was rather ideal. Then, apparently the rent went up. And Pret left, then the coffee shop and the bank. The mezzanine level became a spa. And for more than 18 months the ground floor has been a construction site leading up to the unveiling of the Cartier flagship store. Now, instead of a sandwich and coffee, I can grab a gold watch and a seaweed cellulite treatment on my way to the office. How totally UNhelpful.
For the grand opening (coinciding with the peak Christmas shopping days…) Cartier has gone all out. This display of cascading jewelry boxes certainly makes you look up. As well as making you extremely grateful to not be in an earthquake zone.
