quince de noviembre, dos mil nueve

The alley at Li Yuen Street was packed on Sunday. All these people were watching, with various degrees of emotion, a boxing match on a flat screen television someone had set up in the alley. There were even people selling concessions. It was not a large t.v.

They were there to watch Manny Pacquiao‘s fight from the previous night be replayed on their one day off of the week. I had no idea what was going on, but my 5th grade friend Zara knew all about it, “You haven’t heard of Pacquiao? Oh my god, he’s like so famous, everyone knows who he is!”

And so now I know.

  1. That seems so weird that people would gather in an alley to watch a fight on t.v. At the same time though – I think that’s kind of awesome. I’d love to witness something like that here.
